Lanús win Libertadores game
Lanús, a small team from the southern suburbs, firstly shocked the Argentine footballing world by winning their first ever championship last year. They are now the only Argentine team to have won their opening Libertadores game (Boca still have to play).They beat Danubio in Buenos Aires 3-1(opens in new tab)with goals from Pelletieri, an Abelenda free kick and a second half shot from Acosta. River, San Lorenzo and Estudiantes all lost their games against small teams â inRiver case against Unversidad San Martin in Peru(opens in new tab), a team that averages 50 supporters, mostly from the Orthodontology faculty.

God Watch: Maradona drops moaning goalie and Boca fans prefer Riquelme
God, who is currently touring Latin America with his, no doubt fairly lucrative, 'Showbol' team, dropped his goalie Sergio 'Superman' Vargas former Argentina AND Chile player, after the keeper walked off over a referees decision in the previous game. Sheesh. It's only glorified five-a-side.

Maradona's team drew 11-11 with the team captained by the former Chilean international Iván Zamorano. "It was an amazing game," Diego, said, despite failing to score.

Boca fans vote for Riquelme
In a vote by 50,000 fans of Boca Juniors, Maradona was relegated to second place in the 'who is your favourite Boca player of all time', or something, vote. Riquelme, who has won three Libertadores with the club, gained 31 per cent of the vote. Maradona, who only ever won one domestic title with the club, came in second with 27 per cent, despite being their highest profile fan. Guillermo came in third, with the goalscorer Palermo in fourth. Tevez came fifth with a mere four per cent.
